The Harvest is just around the corner !

The harvest starts with Chardonnay. Yesterday we took our last grape maturation samples for chardonnay. Almost all grapes have reached their ideal maturation level and thus harvest has been set for the 5th of August. This comes one week later than 2016, a year that was challenging due to severe drought.

Fikardos winery sources its Chardonnay grapes from the villages of Kili, Polemi and Stroumpi. The soil found in these vineyards is made out of limestone and the average age of the vines is around 25 year old. These chardonnay grape will be used to produce our unoaked and refreshing Alkisti.

Chardonnay originates from France and is a cross between Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and Gouais Blanc. The cultivation of Chardonnay started in Cyprus during the early 80s and it is been used by Fikardos winery for more than 20 years.
