Katerina is made from the Cypriot grape variety, Xinisteri and the French grape variety, Semillon. This particular blend produces wines with more body and fruit. Xinisteri is the most widespread white grape variety in Cyprus and is usually found in the Paphos Region, whilst Semillon is known worldwide for producing exceptionally sweet wines.
Fikardos winery sources its Xinisteri grapes from its own vineyards in Choulou village and from five more producers in the nearby villages of Kili, Kalepia and Stroumpi. The Xinisteri grapes in Choulou village are grown in clay soil at an altitude of 400 metres above sea level and just next to the Ezousa river. The remaining Xinisteri grapes are grown in limestone soil at an altitude of between 400-500 metres above sea level.
Our Semillon grapes are sourced from three vineyards at Stroumpi and Kili villages. All vineyards are grown on limestone soil and are trained with the traditional goblet method.
Katerina Taste Notes:
A medium sweet, crisp, white wine with aromas of pineapple, pomelo, lemon peel, guava and pineapple dominating in taste with a nice lengthy aftertaste.
Variety: Xinisteri (78%) Semillon (22%)
Type: White Medium Sweet
Because if its high acidity and its sweet taste, Katerina pairs very well with medium spicy foods such as Satay Prawns, Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken or it can simply be enjoyed after food, alone or with fruit desserts.
