Alkisti is made from the French grape variety Chardonnay. Chardonnay grapes have been grown in the Region of Paphos for the last 35 years. Besides been a foreign grape variety, Chardonnay has adapted very well to the hot, dry climate of Cyprus. Fikardos Winery sources all its Chardonnay grapes from the surrounding villages of Kalepia, Letimpou and Polemi. All of the vineyards are more than 20 years old and the vines are trained with the traditional “goblet” system. The Chardonnay grapes are grown in limestone soil and are located at an altitude of between 400-500 metres above sea level.
